Pick a level, then play White. Unlock each move with a mixed-subject question.

    Play a friend

Same tablet or two devices — pick Easy / Medium / Hard first.

About Chess Challenge - Full Games for Kids

A complete chess game for children: play White against the computer, pass-and-play on one tablet, or join a friend with a code. After every move you answer a random curriculum question (maths, English, science and more) before the game continues. Ends only at checkmate, stalemate, or when you tap End game.

    Skills Practised

    • Strategic thinking
    • Turn-taking and patience
    • Mixed-subject recall
    • Spatial reasoning
    • Sportsmanship

    How to Play

Pick computer or friend, then Easy / Medium / Hard. Tap your piece, then its square. Answer the unlock question correctly to continue. Keep playing until checkmate or End game, then Play again.

    Top Tip

Wrong answer? You see the correct answer and a short fact, then tap Next question. Protect your king early.

    In the real world

Chess clubs, school competitions, and online ratings all start with the same rules you practise here. Planning ahead transfers to sports tactics, coding “if-then” thinking, and checking homework before you hand it in.

    Why This Matters at School

Chess trains planning several moves ahead — the same executive-function skills used in multi-step word problems and coding. Unlock questions keep literacy and numeracy warm without stopping the fun.

    Who Should Play This?

Ages 6–15+. Younger children need a grown-up nearby for the first few games.

    Tips for Parents and Teachers

    • Sit beside them for the first Easy game and say the piece names aloud.
    • Ask which subject the unlock question was from — that turns the gate into a mini review.
    • Celebrate finishing a full game, not only winning.

    Common Difficulties

Illegal square — put the piece down and tap a highlighted destination. Board feels stuck — wait for the computer, or tap End game then Play again.
